BIOGRAPHY David J. Looby is a Partner and Founding Member of Cazes, Looby & Jarvis, PLLC. Mr. Looby received his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing (2000) from Northern Illinois University, his Juris Doctorate degree (2005) from the University of Tulsa College of Law, and his Master of Laws degree in Taxation (2006) from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Mr. Looby is primarily a corporate, tax, real estate and litigation attorney who represents individuals and businesses in the areas of business and tax planning, tax controversy and litigation, complex business transactions and litigation, family wealth and estate planning, real estate transactions and local, state and federal taxation. Mr. Looby's experience includes structuring complex business entities and tax exempt organizations, completing stock and asset acquisitions, advising clients as to the best structure in which to hold existing assets as well as the effects of tax planning with limited partnerships, corporations and limited liability companies. Mr. Looby also has extensive experience successfully representing individuals and businesses in tax disputes with the Internal Revenue Service and the Oklahoma Tax Commission as well as before the U.S. Tax Court and federal district courts. Mr. Looby's practice is also dedicated to family wealth and estate planning including the drafting of wills, trusts, advance directives and durable powers of attorney and has included the utilization of a number of sophisticated wealth transfer tax planning strategies, such as sales to grantor trusts, private annuity transactions and valuation discount planning. Prior to forming Cazes, Looby & Jarvis, PLLC, Mr. Looby was the founding and principal member of Looby & Associates, PLLC, an Oklahoma City law firm, from August 2007 through December 2008 and previously employed by Phillips, McFall, McCaffrey, McVay & Murrah, P.C. (now Phillips Murrah) in that firm's Corporate, Tax & Transactional Departments from September 2006 through August 2007. |
